Karma
I have always found peace in karma. Knowing that I can move on from any situation knowing that the person who wronged me will not get away scot free, and my good deeds do not go unseen. Not that I need a reward for being good, but I do believe that you get what you give. If you’re living in low energy, being disrespectful, and complaining all the time, you will remain in a low energy state, and you will get back the hurt you put on other people. On the other hand, if you lead with compassion and a kind heart, your energy will be in a higher vibration, so you will attract good because you are good.
Karma has a broad scope, and in my research, I found the 12 laws of karma to live by:
The great law or the law of cause and effect is whatever you give is what you get. If you want a happy healthy relationship, you must be happy and healthy.
The law of creation explains you are what you surround yourself with. If you surround yourself with shitty people, you are a reflection of that. You must create the environment where the version of you that you desire would exist.
The law of humanity states you must accept where you are now, and that your actions and mindset have put you in this reality.
The law of growth understands that in order to change, you must change yourself, not others. Focusing on your inner healing will lead you to the reality you desire. When we change ourselves, our lives change too.
The law of responsibility simply put, is you are a product of your decisions. We must take responsibility for our lives because we are a reflection of our own decisions.
The law of connection says everything in the universe is connected. Specifically your past, present, and future self are all connected because they all depend on each other.
The law of focus explains that you cannot focus on two things at a time. Focusing on more than one thing at a time can lead to frustration and negativity.
The law of giving and hospitality states you must prove what you believe in. If you go about your life saying you believe in something, the universe will put that to the test to see if you can practice what you preach.
The law of here and now explains how you must live in the present. You cannot dwell on the past or fixate on the future. In letting go of your past negativity and habits, you are able to cultivate new ones for the present.
The law of change says history will repeat itself until you learn your lesson and get out of the cycle.
The law of patience and reward is knowing that by doing what you are supposed to be doing, you will be rewarded some day.
The law of significance and inspiration explains that you get what you put into something. Everything you do will affect the world, and the value of your actions if dependent on the energy you put into it. Everyone has something to give, so every personal contribution is also a contribution on a much greater scale.
In short, karma is the relationship between someone's mental and physical actions and their consequences or rewards.
While Karma can’t be proved, it is significant to have something to believe in. The same way people find peace in religion and god, others find it in karma. And although karma is derived from Hindu and Buddhist teachings, it is not exclusively a religious concept. Karma lets me believe that a person only suffers if they have created and allowed for the conditions for them to suffer, and with that, I live my life believing I am in charge of my own happiness and success.
Like many beliefs, karma is not harmful. As long as you are not projecting your beliefs onto other people or causing harm in any way, having something to believe in can keep you going. For me, that something is karma.
